SELTEN GELESENE MUSIK
3.12 - 9.12
"For the series Selten Gelesene Musik (german for “Rarely Read Music”, a wink to the artist collective Selten Gehörte Musik), Laura Lot digs in her collection of music press, tearing out pages to then compose on them a new collage made of found photographic material.
From editorials and records review columns to ads of mail order services or readers’ feedback sections, the page becomes the conceptional space of the collage as well as its final support.
Featuring pages from French, German, Swiss, Italian and American music magazines and fanzines (covering the period 1986-2016), the series aims to create a new sheet of music press that integrates visual collages while preserving certain textual elements that keep the memory of the original issue alive.
An artistic exercise in which archiving meets reconstruction. "
*The show is organised as part of the 7th edition of “La Semaine du Bizarre”, taking place from 3rd to 8th December at Theatre Berthelot in Montreuil (France). It will be on display during the whole duration of the festival.
