For her solo show at Micro Galerie, Laura Lot imagines the practice of seeking and unearthing visual footage (from lost family photos to forgotten anecdotes published in the press…) as a beachcombing stroll on the foreshore, where one bumps into objects that have lost their original use but carry a (forgotten) story with them.
These objects are the “jetsam”: what’s been thrown, lost, abandoned, buried… and to which is now given a new existence through collage compositions. The artistic process is here to be seen as a search made of fortuitous encounters, where the leftovers of destruction have the precious role of being the starting point of a new ground for creation. |
