​Laura Lot returns to Micro Galerie with Private View, her second solo show at the gallery.
Private View is a glimpse into the realms of intimacy, where heightened feelings and embodied sensations lurk within handmade collages that subliminally pull the viewer to explore their own, often hidden, truths.
Lot not only plays with the sensual juxtaposition of her images but with the title of her show, a witty pun on her subject matter and the inherent nature of the art world she finds herself in. Private yes, but exposed simultaneously.
Like many artists before her (Nan Goldin, Carolee Schneeman, or Dorothy Iannone for example), she brings her experience of the erotic into her artistic practice, drawing a parallel between the two as creative forces and means for seeking completion.
​Not for mass consumption, these 11 mixed media collages and Aglow - the accompanying short film made with Andrew Hulme - have a language of their own: they speak directly to us, pulling back the bed sheets to reveal our intimate nature.

Private View is an invitation that should be taken literally, as an invitation to set free and embrace our innermost desires.
