​RESEARCH RESIDENCY 
LAURA LOT

Visual artist Laura Lot has been invited to take over the spaces of Gemeinde Köln from the 9th of June to the 30th of July 2023 as part of this summer’s artistic research residency programme.
 
Laura works mainly with collage methods, applying them not just to photographic material but also to video and sound installation. She has exhibited in Cologne several times, in places such as GOLD+BETON and microgalerie.
 
Her artistic research at Gemeinde will focus on an issue that is often present in her work: home, its existence, its limitations and its search.
 
During the residency, Laura will not only develop new material and revisit older creations, she will also take the chance to use the community aspect of Gemeinde to expand her practice through collaborative work, presenting the recent joint video installation Still Looking - made with filmmaker and musician Andrew Hulme.

She also aims at building interactions with the visitors by leaving blank notebooks in the gallery space, on which people are invited to leave their thoughts, drawings and musings about ‘home’, what it evokes and what it means to them.
All the contributions will be integrated into the ongoing exhibition.
